Imagine – A beach without people. This is Heaven.

Puerto Vallarta, Zona Romantico is know for its amazing beach, but did you know there is an even better one, not much more than 1.5 hours south? However this is one of the last undeveloped beaches  on the Pacific Coast of Mexico,  and thats a really good thing.

Yes this is another blog entry where the blogger reveals the secret of Mayto Beach.  Not many people know about this location and that is also a good thing.  I will admit full responsibility in raising awareness but it’s just a matter of time.  One day, this spot will be visited by many more than it is today.  Rumor has it that much of the land around has been bought out by developers, and changes are certain to occur.  If you have a chance to see Mayto before this happens, then do so.  You won’t be sorry.

There are only two small hotels at Mayto Beach.  It looks like they have been there for a while, and a little update is needed, however, the hotels are really not the reason to visit this oasis.

Mayto beach is made up of two parts.  Over the hill, and a bit around the bend is the smaller beach.  Upon arriving, we choose to head to the smaller beach.  This one is really hidden.  You don’t actually see it until you get to the other side of the hill.  The shore is separated by two rock formations. Ocean water crashing with immense force as the spray reaches high in the sky. The sound this makes is amazing.  Between these two formations, is beautiful soft golden sand.  It’s hot, but boy does it feel good between your toes.  Dipping your feet into the water awakens your inner soul as you are mesmerized by its beauty.  You stand there, looking out into the ocean, as far as the eye can see, and you contemplate.  This is one of those moments that you remember and will remember for ever.  This is peace, this is serenity, this is what I hope heaven is like.

Heading back to the hotel is where the larger of the two beaches sits.  This one goes on for miles.  I am not exaggerating in the least.  Its so long.  You could walk for an hour and still be on the beach.  I have friends that have experienced this beach before and claim that they just walked until they were alone and stripped naked to experience physical freedom.

A warning though, this is not a swimming beach. The water is very rough. You can walk and sit in the shallower part of the waters edge, but the undertow is very strong.  Please if you go in the water, take extra caution.

This is a must for any beach aficionado.  You can even camp out on the beach with a tent, which is something that I would like to do.  Hopefully, on my next visit to Puerto Vallarta, I can plan such a night.  Can you imagine waking up to this immense beauty.
